Photo: Sea Lice From Fish Farms May Wipe Out Wild Salmon

An explosion of sea lice from fish farms has been infecting young pink salmon, like the one seen above (top), as the wild fish swim past farms on their way out to sea.

In Canada's Broughton Archipelago the fish swim downriver past 20 active fish farms (bottom). Now a new study suggests that parasites from the farms could wipe out wild salmon in the region within four years.
