Photo: Life-Forms "Resurrected" After Millennia in Ice



Ancient, frozen bacteria in Antarctica's Beacon Valley (above) came back to life after researchers thawed ice samples taken from the region.


As global warming continues to melt glaciers at a rapid pace, many of these suspended bacteria may flood into the oceans—and possibly influence the genetics of modern bacteria.
