Photo: Buried Mars Glaciers May Be Remnants of Past Ice Age

Computer-generated images show unusual glacierlike landforms in three craters in Mars's eastern Hellas region as they appear in visible light (right) and as they might appear if the ice underneath were revealed (left).

Radar images of the landforms show that they are likely made of water ice covered with a layer of rocky debris, scientists announced in November 2008.
