Photo: "Eco Hubble" to Bring Nature Data to the Public

The National Ecological Network Observatory, or NEON, will link centers across the U.S. that monitor activity in the wild related to issues such as climate change, biodiversity, invasive species, and water use.

The project, which has been dubbed the Hubble Space Telescope of ecology, was announced in February 2009 and is to be up and running by 2016.
