October 7, 2009--A recent picture taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows dunes rippling across Noctis Labyrinthus, a checkerboard region of flatlands cut by canyons, troughs, and pits near the Martian equator.

The snapshot, taken by MRO's HiRISE camera in August 2009, shows light-colored layers of iron-bearing sulfates and clay minerals exposed near the dune field.
