SPACE PHOTOS THIS WEEK: Moon Water, Dubai Lights, More

September 11, 2009--The Dubai cityscape glitters in a nighttime photograph taken from the International Space Station.

The orange glow of sodium vapor lights indicate major highways and downtown streets of the United Arab Emirates city, while white and grey lights illuminate residential areas.

Such images help climate modelers, urban planners, and geographers to define densely populated and rural areas, according to NASA's Earth Observatory Web site.
