Osborn said the discovery of the seven bomber-worm species, including this one, underscores how little is known about the deep sea.

"We are losing biodiversity in the world's oceans pretty quickly, and this just shows us that there's an entire group out there that we didn't know anything about," she said. "It's a great example of how much more we have to learn."
