A talkative bird with a beak like a curved blade, the scimitar-babbler was first discovered in Vietnam's Lang Bian mountains in 2004.

The wren-like creature is one of two new bird species discovered in the Eastern Himalaya since 1998, according to a WWF report released in August 2009.
