Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, July 26, 2009--Crowds gather to watch divers take the plunge off Mostar Bridge, a reconstructed landmark spanning the Neretva River. For hundreds of years people have jumped off the 82-foot-high (25-meter-high) bridge during an annual competition.

Mostar was developed during the 15th and 16th centuries as an Ottoman frontier town. The town's iconic bridge was destroyed during 20th-century conflicts, but it was rebuilt in 2004 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. (View recent additions to the World Heritage list.)
