A long-legged buzzard alights on its nest in Nikopol, Bulgaria, on June 11, 2008. The image is part of Wild Wonders of Europe, reportedly the world's largest nature-photography project.

Photographer and bird of prey enthusiast Dietmar Nill is attracted to Bulgaria, because "it offers nature still relatively untouched by man," he wrote on the Wild Wonders of Europe Web site.

"This allows [me] to photograph animals without disturbing them, and the results are images of behaviour you never see or get elsewhere."
