Kibbutz Dan, Israel, April 22, 2009--A female sturgeon in a fish farm gives a last protest on its way to being butchered for caviar.

Due to overfishing (see overfishing pictures) and pollution, yields of sturgeon caviar worldwide have fallen and prices have soared, in some cases to more than $5,000 per kilogram (2.2 pounds). The Caviar Galilee company, which owns the pictured farm, produces around 5,000 pounds (2,000 kilograms) of sturgeon caviar annually.
