April 15, 2009--Lacy dunes seem to flow from the central peak in a crater in the Nili Fossae region of Mars in a recently released image taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Nili Fossae is a 15.5-mile-wide (25-kilometer-wide) trough found to contain large amounts of minerals that require liquid water to form. In January NASA announced that the region is also the source of plumes of methane, a possible indicator of underground life.
