Gauhati, India, April 23, 2009--A wildlife official observes an injured young Asian elephant that was knocked down by a train near the Deepor Bird Sanctuary.

The juvenile was taken to the state zoological park for treatment. Asian elephants are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and they number only between 25,000 to 32,000 worldwide.
