Second Place, Wide-Angle Photography

Approaching his reflection in a camera lens, a male pumpkinseed sunfish in Ginnie Springs, Florida, helped Italian Alessio Viora take second place in the Rosentstiel School amateur photo contest.

Reaching a maximum length of about 16 inches (40 centimeters), the freshwater fish is native to northeastern and mid-Atlantic North America. The pumpkinseed is considered an invasive species throughout much of its current range, which includes parts of Europe in addition to Florida.
