Sidling up to amateur photographer and University of Miami student Evan D'Alessandro for a bit of spit and polish, two cleaning shrimp take a break from their Florida Keys "cleaning station," where they scavenge bacteria and parasites from the skin and eyeballs of remarkably well-behaved sharks and other fish.

"It was a great find," D'Alessandro said, "because these guys are quite uncommon in Florida and the Keys."
