Sydney, Australia, March 20, 2009--A little penguin named North looks back at veterinarian Amy Twentyman as the zoo scientist gives him a push out to sea on Curl Curl Beach.

Sydney's Taronga Zoo released two adult little penguins--yes, that's the species' name--back to the wild on March 20 after they had been taken in for rest and care. According to Taronga spokesperson Danielle McGill, the zoo takes in about 30 penguins each year during molting season, when the seabirds temporarily lose their waterproof feathers and can't go into the sea.
