Salisbury, United Kingdom, February 24, 2009--Robes and flapjacks flying, choristers-in-training flip out on the Christian holiday Shrove Tuesday—aka Pancake Day in Britain—the last hurrah before the sober season of Lent.

Traditionally Lent was a fasting period, and Shrove Tuesday saw a mad dash to use up any perishables, including milk, eggs, and butter.
