Belgrade, Serbia, December 10, 2008--Who says mutants can't be cute? The result of a genetic mutation, a day-old white African lion takes its wobbly first steps alongside a more typical African lion at the Belgrade Zoo in Serbia.

The new white lion and another white littermate bring the zoo's white-lion population to five. About a hundred of the mutant cats, which are not albinos, are believed to exist. A few have recently been released into the wild in their native South African habitat (watch video).
