In Rome, Obama supporters closely watched the U.S. election results in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

"In Italy, many people hear about the election everyday on TV and also on the Internet, but it's the same as if it were my election in my country," freelance Italian journalist Enzo Cursio told the Huffington Post Web site.
