Denver, Colorado, October 30, 2008--A baby colobus monkey named Darby is held by its mother, Sadie, as father Ray looks on at the Denver Zoo. Darby, whose gender remains unknown, was born October 15.

Although infant colobus monkeys are born all white, adults are black with a white face border, white veiling flanks, and a bushy white tail. Colubus is from a Greek word meaning "mutilated one" because the monkeys lack thumbs. The African natives are hunted for bushmeat.
