Kemah, Texas, September 16, 2008--Old photos dry out on a table at Kerrie Ireland's house, which was flooded by the storm surge of Hurricane Ike.

The Category 2 storm slammed the U.S. Gulf Coast Saturday with winds in excess of 100 miles (161 kilometers) per hour and a storm surge up to 15 feet (4.6 meters).

Ike caused widespread damage and power outages. The confirmed death toll is 50, though officials suspect additional victims were swept out to sea.
