Near Melbourne, Australia, September 15, 2008-- Rest hour? Twelve-year-old male lion brothers, Tonyi (left) and Tombo, rest on their backs at the Werribee Open Range Zoo.

The zoo aims to provide visitors a taste of the African savannah on a 556-acre (225-hectare) plot of land located about a 30-minute drive west of Melbourne.

The IUCN lists the African lion as a vulnerable species. A major threat is conflict with humans, primarily stemming from predation on livestock.
