HURRICANE IKE PHOTOS: Galveston Braces for Storm

Hurricane Ike swirls above the Gulf of Mexico on September 10, 2008.

On a trajectory for the Texas coast, the storm--seen here from the International Space Station--is expected to make landfall near Galveston, Texas, over the weekend.

As of Friday morning, Ike was a Category 2 hurricane with peak winds of about 105 miles (169 kilometers) an hour.
