Srinagar, India, August 12, 2008—A Kashmiri protestor heaves an unidentified object, hitting a fleeing Indian policeman in the town of Srinagar.

In recent days, Indian-administered Kashmir has experienced heightened turmoil as huge crowds demonstrated against a perceived economic blockade against Muslim traders.

In the most recent skirmish, police fired on the Kashmiri protesters, killing seven.
