Managua, Nicaragua, August 4, 2008—A youth, painted with vivid red and white markings, pauses during festivities honoring Managua's esteemed patron saint, St. Dominic of Guzmán.

Others adorn themselves with masks, costumes, or even motor oil in honor of St. Dominic.

A major opening highlight of the festival is the famous walk of the saint, when many exuberant attendees escort the old statue of St. Dominic across the city.
