August 11, 2008—Saturn's mysterious moon Enceladus appears in a false-color mosaic of images shot during the Cassini probe's close flyby on August 11 (more of the new photos.)

Lighter shades suggest fine ice particles. Darker patches indicate coarser-grained ice and solid boulders found in valleys and on the flanks of the tiger stripe fractures that spew the moon's icy geysers.

The four prominent tiger stripes are, from top to bottom, Damascus, Baghdad, Alexandria, and Cairo—all named after locations in the Arabian Nights.
