Nepal, August 24, 2008--A downpour that burst the Koshi dam on the Saptakoshi river sent refugees fleeing flood waters in eastern Nepal. At least 24 bodies have been discovered at the Nepal-India border, according to local media reports.

Flood waters have also severed road links between the eastern and western halves of Nepal as well as a major road link between Nepal and India. The roads could be closed for several weeks, an official told the BBC.
