Beijing, China, August 10, 2008—Spectators stand by as pouring rain delayed the start of a woman's archery competition at the summer Olympics. The inclement weather also postponed tennis and rowing events.

On the bright side, the rain cooled off temperatures to 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26 degrees Celsius) from highs of 93 degrees Fahrenheit (34 degrees Celsius) and raised hopes it would wash away air pollutants.

The Beijing Olympics have been haunted by concerns over unhealthy levels of smog.
