Antalya, Turkey, August 2, 2008—Fire fighters struggle to extinguish a blaze in a region of Turkey's Mediterranean coast that attracts more than 7 million tourists each year.

Antalya's governor Sunday described the fire as the worst in recent years. The blaze started July 31 and was fanned by high winds.

The flames have killed two people, torched more than 10,000 acres (4,000 hectares), destroyed dozens of homes, and threaten historical sites such as the ancient Greek amphitheater in Aspendos.
