Zurich, Switzerland, July 13, 2008—Hundreds of triathletes kick off the swimming leg of the Ironman Switzerland Triathlon.

This year's grueling race started with a 2.4-mile (3.8 kilometer) swim, continued with a 112-mile (180 kilomter) bike ride, and concluded with a 26.2-mile (42.2 kilometer) run.

The winner of the men's race finished in just over 8 hours, and the women's race was won after approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes, according to the organization's official site.
