Pamplona, Spain, July 9, 2008—At the San FermÍn Festival a recortador leaps over a wild cow—one of several 2008 "innovations" employed by these acrobatic antagonists to tire out the animals for the matadors before bullfights.

Typically recortadors rely solely on muscle power, but this year ATVs, poles, and a type of low-tech carousel have been added to their armory.

The nine-day fiesta, which ends July 16, features a daily running of the bulls through city streets, followed by bullfights in the city's coliseum. (See more Pamplona bull photos.)
