Cancún, Mexico, July 20, 2008—A beachgoer watches the Caribbean a few hours before the arrival of tropical storm Dolly, which brought strong winds and heavy rains to the Yucatán Peninsula on Sunday.

The storm is expected to grow into a Category 1 hurricane with 74- to 95-mile-an-hour (119- to 153-kilometer-an-hour) winds and make landfall near the Mexico-Texas border on Wednesday. According to the U.S. National Weather Service, Dolly could dump 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 centimeters) of rain.
