Mohnton, Pennsylvania, May 14, 2008—A giant beetle dwarfs a dollar bill as U.S. customs officials display smuggled insects recently confiscated in eastern Pennsylvania.

Postal workers in the town of Mohnton discovered more than two dozen of the big bugs in a box from Taiwan. Inspectors became suspicious when they heard scratching noises coming from the box.

"The specimens were some of the largest of their kind, and some of the largest I've ever seen, averaging 5 to 6 inches [13 to 15 centimers] in diameter," John Plummer, an agency agriculture specialist, said in a statement.
