Scientists who recently described the lizard Stenocercus quinarius likened it to a miniature dragon. The lizard measures no more than 5.5 inches (14 centimeters) long from pyramid-shaped head to tail.

Found at the eastern limits of a protected area in Brazil the miniature reptile lives mostly near the ground on tree trunks in dense savanna found on plateaus. Outside the reserve, much of this habitat has been converted to agriculture.
