Thimphu, Bhutan, March 24, 2008— An elderly Bhutanese voter looks for help as he casts his ballot in the Himalayan country's capital.

Encouraged by its king, the tiny nation, nestled between China and India, voted Monday in a historic transition to democratic rule after a hundred years of monarchy.

Citizens chose the 47 members of the Bhutanese Parliament's lower house.
