March 21, 2008—An aurora borealis ripples above the Arctic, as seen from the International Space Station.

The glimmering green northern lights appeared over the Gulf of Alaska as a swirl of clouds below indicated a low pressure system.

The image was taken by a crewmember of the space shuttle Endeavour during the shuttle's 15-day mission to make additions and improvements to the space station.
