Edinburgh, Scotland, February 27, 2008—Scientists with the British Geological Survey scan a seismograph readout of the United Kingdom's strongest earthquake in more than 20 years.

The temblor, estimated at a magnitude of about 5.3 on the Richter scale, struck Lincolnshire County on England's central east coast, but caused little damage and - one injury, according to wire reports.

Though a magnitude 5 quake pales in comparison to much stronger temblors routinely reported in Asian countries, the event left residents shaken throughout Britain, where strong quakes are uncommon.
