Floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains killed at least 12 people across the country in February.

Submerged roads forced people to abandon their vehicles. Even President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono abandoned his bulletproof Mercedes-Benz sedan and traveled in his secret service's SUV, the Associated Press reported.
