''Doomsday'' Seed Vault Opens Near North Pole

"The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is our insurance policy," Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said at the opening ceremony on February 26. "It is the 'Noah's Ark' for securing biological diversity for future generations."
