Fernley, Nevada, January 6, 2008Workers repair a levee that broke and flooded about 300 homes.

Icy water poured into the town from a rupture in the irrigation canal during a huge storm that pounded the West, according to the Associated Press.

The canal was temporarily repaired by late Sunday, but about a square mile (2.5 square kilometers) of the town was still under two feet (0.6 meter) of water, as ice impeded drainage.

No injuries were reported in the town of 20,000 people.
