At least 34 people have died due to heavy snowfall in the strife-prone country, according to the news agency AFP.

Hundreds of communities have also been cut off after snow and rain blocked the roads to major cities.

The Afghan Red Crescent has called on the government and the international community for urgent support before it turns into a ''real disaster,'' AFP reported.
