Maria Gern, Germany, December 24, 2007—Good news, ladies: These huge, hairy beasts are available.

Each year, single young Bavarian men don animal skins and masks as part of their traditional attire, called "Buttenmandl" and "Krampusse."

The men seen here marched behind a symbolic Saint Nicholas through the southern German town of Maria Gern, near Berchtesgaden, on Christmas Eve.

Their visits are supposed to bring luck to the well-behaved—and punishment for the idle.
