Clatskanie, Oregon, December 11, 2007A mudslide buffeted a mobile home and swept trees away like toothpicks near the Oregon coast earlier this week.

The slide struck between Portland and the Pacific Coast, damaging at least four homes and shutting down a highway. Mud covered some five acres (two hectares), but no injuries were reported.

The wave of mud and debris was the result of a buildup of water following two major downpours that dumped nearly 10 inches (25 centimeters) of rain on the region.
