November 14, 2007Earth hangs over the horizon of the moon in this high-definition image sent from the KAGUYA spacecraft.

The lunar probe, launched in September by the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, transmitted HDTV video footage of the moon this week, including this first ever hi-def earthrise.

KAGUYA is orbiting the moon to study its origins and evolution, and to gather data for future lunar exploration missions.
