La Paz, Bolivia, November 8, 2007—Holy water glistens on a skull during a Mass to celebrate Fiesta de las Ñatitas or Day of the Skulls in the South American city's central cemetery.

An ancient tradition, the skulls are crowned with flowers, and residents offer coca leaves, cigarettes and drinks to them. On the day of the festival families perch the skulls on altars during a special Mass and ask them for protection and good luck.
