October 23, 2007A handout image from Christie's Auction House shows the 13th-century Koran that was recently sold in London for a record 2.3 million U.S. dollars.

The Islamic religious text was signed by Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn 'Umar, probably of Mesopotamia, in A.D. 1203.

Written entirely in gold, with marginal notes composed in silver, the book is the earliest known of its kind in the world.
