Near Beijing, October 19, 2007China's Great Wall briefly became the world's biggest catwalk when it hosted its first blue-chip fashion show. Rome-based Fendi Fendi displayed its new collection on a restored section of the monument.

Speaking to the Reuters news agency, the company's CEO commented on the complexities of staging the extravaganzaoriginally scheduled for last Maygiven the Chinese government's efforts to safeguard the decaying wall complex.

Despite such efforts, some conservationists contend that the Great Wall is being overrun, damaged, and Disneyfied.
