NASA's Orion crew exploration vehicle—as seen in an artist's rendering—will be similar in shape to the Apollo spacecraft, but larger.

The new craft is part of the U.S. plan to return astronauts to the moon by 2020.

The craft's conical form is still considered to be the safest and most reliable for re-entry in to Earth's atmosphere.
