Hainan Black-Crested Gibbon (China)

With only 17 individuals living in a single forest block, this subspecies of black-crested gibbon is among the most critically endangered primates in the world, according to a new report.

The species was named one of the 25 most endangered primate species in the October 27, 2007, report by the Primate Specialist Group of the World Conservation Union's Species Survival Commission and the International Primatological Society, in collaboration with Conservation International.
