Hurricanes Hit Both American Coasts

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, September 4, 2007—Huge waves crash on the coast near the popular tourist town before the arrival of Hurricane Henriette. (See a map of Mexico).

Henriette, a Category 1 storm with winds of 75 miles (120 kilometers) an hour is expected to make its second landfall along the coast of mainland Mexico on Wednesday, after it crossed the southern tip of Baja California peninsula.

Large waves reaching 3 to 5 feet (0.9 to 1.5 meters) above normal tide levels are expected in the path of the hurricane, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
